BDO Bahamas’ Senior Partner, Clifford Culmer, was one of the Life time achievement award recipients at the 40th Anniversary Gala banquet of the Bahamas Institute of Chartered Accountants (BICA) recently held at Atlantis on Paradise Island. Clifford Culmer received the award for Liquidations and Public practice, and he was also honored as a past president of BICA where he still remains the longest serving President where he served for 7 years. He is also a founding member of BICA.
Clifford Culmer and the BDO Bahamas are known for their expertise in performing audits for a number of industries, including financial services and governmental corporations. He has also served as Court appointed receiver, receiver and manager, trustee in bankruptcy and liquidator on a number of renowned local and international receiverships, and cross border insolvencies, including The Grand Bahama Port Authority and Banco Ambrosiano. The landmark court decision of the Southern District of New York, “In Re Culmer”, set a worldwide precedence in liquidation proceedings and this decision is referred to in global insolvencies.
Mr Culmer has held numerous directorships in the Bahamas most notably a Director of the Bahamas financial Services Board and of The Central Bank of the Bahamas.
His community involvement includes being past President of the Rotary Club of East Nassau where he received the Paul Harris Fellow Award, and treasurer of the Bahamas Red Cross.
